Owner/Director, Instructor Certification level I, MA in Community Music
Some of my earliest memories are of making music! I can remember leading friends around as a marching band, singing in the car with family and, of course my many years of training at the piano, both privately and at the post secondary level.
When I first walked into a Music Together® room with my eldest child, I knew I had found something special! For years now we've been singing, dancing, acting silly, learning and making wonderful memories together as a growing family in our MT circle. I began teaching not long after I found Music Together, and it has been my profound pleasure to watch the children in our community explore, learn and grow; but also to watch their caregivers open up to the joy of music.
Inspired by all I was seeing in these circles, I attended Wilfred Laurier and graduated with a Masters degree in Community Music, and also began an all-welcome singing group for adults. I am always excited to make music, and grateful for the people (tall and small!) in our Music Together community!

I discovered Music Together as a mom attending classes with my eldest daughter. I was so impressed with everything Music Together had to offer, that I wanted to be a part of this great organization. Having been a classroom teacher, the shift to becoming a Music Together instructor seemed like a natural one, especially being a mom to two young children at the time.
I love how fun this program is, yet so impressively educational, and the respect Music Together pays to a child's natural learning process is extraordinary. The quality of this program was far too great to be kept a secret, which lead to my opening of the first Ontario centre in January 2003. Music Together is now offered in over 41 countries worldwide.

Music has always been a major part of my life. I grew up playing piano, cello and acting out Gilbert and Sullivan musicals with my sister. I was encouraged to consider music therapy as a career which combined my love of music and working with children perfectly. I earned my Honours Bachelor of Music Therapy with a Major in Psychology and am an accredited Music Therapist since 2003. I use cello, guitar, piano and voice in my lessons. I have worked with children with a wide variety of abilities, diagnoses and have a special interest in music as it links to language development.
I came to Music Together when my eldest son was a toddler and got hooked. The philosophy of the program, with it's foundation of research, combined with music I loved to hear over and over (and over!) again on long car rides, all played a role. The many ways this program brings music into the family home, and beyond, is inspiring to me. I feel it's important to never lose the aspect of play and fun! I enjoy the energy I inherit when working with children.

Music has always been a strong passion of mine, from singing in a choir as a child, to teaching and performing as an adult. My training in music includes a degree in Music Education from Wilfrid Laurier University and Royal Conservatory qualifications in piano, voice, and oboe. Before Music Together I was a high school music teacher for twelve years.
My first introduction to Music Together was as a parent. I attended classes with both of my children for eight years and love the combined music and movement approach, the diversity of music, and just how much fun it is! When the opportunity came up, I leapt at the chance to join the Music Together teaching community.
When I am not singing and dancing with Music Together classes, I feed my choir addiction by singing in the Grand Philharmonic Choir and Chamber Singers. I also enjoy playing board games with my family, walking our large Bernedoodle, and volunteering as a skating coach

I was introduced to the Music Together program as a toddler in class. I attended classes with my mom and brought the songs back home with me to sing over-and-over and over again (Much to my parent's delight). Once I aged out of the program, I took up other music and piano lessons, continuing them throughout childhood. In high school, I took my musical learning further to master the French horn!
I am currently studying Psychology at Wilfrid Laurier University, and I am particularly interested in child psychology and development. I have continued being musical by playing piano and picking up guitar on my own time while playing in and acting as co-treasurer for the Waterloo Concert Band.
I couldn’t be more excited to return to the program to work, play, and sing with my old ‘Jodie-Music’ teacher, my mom, and all the other wonderful people at Music Together of Kitchener-Waterloo.

I discovered Music Together while attending classes at the Cambridge Centre for the Arts with my daughter in 2018. I was immediately inspired by the program's "everyone is musical" philosophy.
I bring a lifelong love of music to the program, that began with commandeering the family record player at an early age. Singing in a youth choir showed me the power of music to move, heal and uplift people; as well as the magic of singing in harmony.
I work as a paralegal, and live in the beautiful village of Hespeler with my partner, our three children and a rambunctious cat. I play piano and guitar, and love to sing and write songs. Our household is a musical one, as we all play and create music, together.
I am excited to be a part of the Music Together family, and hope to inspire others to recognize the musical ability inherent within their children, and themselves.

I began Music Together classes with my son when he was just 12 weeks old, and my daughter has been joining us every week since birth! From my first class, I knew this program had a special place in my heart. As a new mom, this community was not only amazing for my babies but also a wonderful place to connect with others.
As a young child, I sat backstage, watching many musical performances. Always observing. Always singing along. Always fascinated by the impact and joy music brought to the audience. Growing up, I was never without a tune in my head. I was constantly creating a playlist to all life’s events, singing Karaoke for hours with friends, memorizing songs and performing them on my fire place stage. Selling tickets to my biggest fans (mom and dad, of course!)
I felt called to join these wonderful souls communicating and educating through sound and song and I couldn’t be more thrilled to do so. Being a mom in the MT classroom is amazing, but getting to help make the magic? *chefs kiss* “

My first Music Together class was with the wonderful Sarah, and what an amazing experience it was! I had so much fun singing, dancing and playing, I couldn’t wait to do it again!
As a child growing up, I was very fortunate to experience the arts in many forms. Theatre, dance, piano, guitar and singing in numerous choirs took up a lot of my time. Most often now you’ll find me singing and dancing around the house, making up songs and playing whatever instruments happen to be on hand. My journey leading Music Together started in the classroom, moved online and eventually found its way outside in large circles. I’m very excited to be back singing in the classroom!
As a parent, it’s been such a joyful experience helping to nurture and witness my son's love of music as it continues to grow. I’m thrilled to be a part of this amazing community of people. Learning, playing and spreading joy together through a love of music!

When I took my daughter to our very first Music Together class in 2015 I remember thinking to myself, "I'd love to teach this program one day." I was so impressed with the flow of the class, the quality of the music, the use of instruments, the community environment, the level of participation I saw from all the parents, and the spirit in the children. I knew that I had stumbled upon a gem!
My background is in musical theatre. I graduated from the Theatre-Dance program at Ryerson University in 1999 and went on to perform in over 25 professional shows including We Will Rock You (Mirvish Productions) and Anne of Green Gables (Charlottetown Festival). I also had the privilege to work with Drayton Entertainment for five seasons performing in Beauty and the Beast, 42nd Street and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat, to name a few.
It's a real joy to bring my enthusiasm for music and movement to this exceptional program.
