How do classes work?
- Classes are 45 minutes
- Each family receives a beautifully illustrated songbook & download code
- Mask optional classes: Masks for any participant are left to your discretion. Your teacher may or may not be masked.
- Instruments: Families will be provided with clean, disinfected instruments to use at each class.
- Makeup Classes: Makeup classes are unlimited and offered on a space-available basis. They can be scheduled via our Makeup Scheduler, and families in our Babies Classes are welcome in ANY Babies or Mixed-age class.
Makeups cannot be carried over to future semesters.
About Music Together® Babies Classes
The one-semester Music Together Babies Class was created especially for families with infants under eight months old. You might be wondering what your newborn could possibly take away from a music class and how old they have to be before they can benefit. It's never too early to start making music! Your little one is a natural-born music-maker, ready to start learning music at birth.
Maybe you've noticed that your baby responds when you play a song in the car or sing to soothe them. Babies are naturally musical-- and you don't have to be a great singer or dancer yourself to nurture their love of music.
As in everything, you are your child's first and best teacher. In this music class for babies, your Music Together teacher will show you how you can Support your baby's music development through simple and fun activities. You'll learn lots of musical ways to connect with your little one through music and create connections with other new parents in your class.
What age are the infants in a Babies Class?
Infants range from a few weeks through eight months on the first day of classes, but we find the average to be between 1 - 6 months. Most babies in these classes are non-mobile for at least the beginning of the semester. Feel free to contact us to discuss.
My baby is under 9 months. Should I take this class or a mixed-age class?
This class is structured similarly to a mixed-age class. In both classes your teacher will lead you through a variety of activities, facilitating fun and creative ways for you to interact musically with your baby. The main difference lies in parent education. Because the infants are non-mobile in a Babies Class, there is a calmer energy which allows the teacher more opportunities to explain the ‘whys’ behind the ‘whats’ and to point out emerging musical behaviours.
Provincial or Regional Closures: If Public Health or the province regulates class closures or requires that we make changes to our program delivery due to COVID-19, we will either make changes to the semester dates, move all in-person classes to Zoom or Outdoors, depending on the situation. There will be no refunds or credits due to these changes in program delivery once classes have begun.
