Classes run from September 17th to November 19th
*Please note that this is a class specifically designed for 4-8-year-olds, but we WILL welcome younger siblings to keep families together. We will not exclude anyone from joining, so if you are interested in enrolling your child in this class time but don't have a 4-8-year-old old, please contact our Director, Sarah, to discuss.
How do classes work?
- Classes are 45 minutes
- Each family receives a beautifully illustrated songbook & download code
- For "mask optional" classes: Masks for any participant are left to your discretion. Your teacher may or may not be masked.
- Instruments: Families will be provided with clean, disinfected instruments to use at each class.
- Makeup Classes: Makeup classes are unlimited and offered on a space-available basis. They can be scheduled via our Makeup Scheduler.
Makeups cannot be carried over to future semesters.
In this class, we take the quintessential mixed-age format and adjust and support our practices to suit older children.
Child development researchers recommend mixed-age groupings because they foster natural, family-style learning. Younger children enjoy watching and imitating older ones; older children learn by leading younger ones; and adults are happy because the children in the family can go to class together. This is true in this class also! Each child participates at their own developmental level in singing, moving, chanting, listening, watching, and exploring musical instruments.
The class provides a variety of adult-child activities that are fun and relaxed, offering new ways to play musically at home, or anywhere! The whole family is welcome to join in this important family music experience, and any caregiver, parent, grandparent, nanny etc can bring the child(ren) to class.
In this class specifically, we engage in more mature practices to challenge and excite older children with advanced expectations while moving them to the forefront of their own music-making, all while including younger kids and siblings at their own age and stage with our tried and tested facilitation skills. This continues to be a parent-participating, family music program.
Please reach out for more information.
Provincial or Regional Closures: If Public Health or the province regulates class closures or requires that we make changes to our program delivery due to COVID-19, we will either make changes to the semester dates, move all in-person classes to Zoom or Outdoors, depending on the situation. There will be no refunds or credits due to these changes in program delivery once classes have begun.
